I guess it's a good thing that I get upset when I feel like I'm not getting a project done as quickly as I think I should. And it's not really the extra work that bothers me. It's a bit of a pride thing. When I say that I'm going to have something completed in a week, I feel bad when I don't deliver results at the end of that week. If my time was taken away by outside factors, however, then I don't get upset because the missed deadline was out of my control.
But one thing that I've noticed is that some of my Business Casual deadlines don't have the same effect on me. I'd probably be a little mad at myself if I missed a comic update, but I'd get over it fairly quickly. As I exhibited at my first con of the year last week, I spoke to a few people about how I didn't have my first Business Casual book ready. I had set a deadline for myself to have it ready by my first convention, but missing that deadline really didn't weigh on me that much. Sure, it hurt my con sales a bit, but I didn't think that I had missed that much in not having it ready.
I'm not sure what to make of that. It may mean that as much as I say that I want this comic to succeed that I've still not managed to make it over the hump of full commitment. Or, it may be any number of things. Whatever it is, I really do need to finish that book.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the comic.
