These days, when I tell someone what I do for a living, I usually get the "Oh" response like in today's comic. And this response usually means one of two things. One, they don't really understand computers and what those technological abominations do so they have no follow up questions or comments. Or two, they know a bit about computers and don't care to hear any detail at all about what a programmer/analyst actually does.
Years ago, when I first started down this career path, I thought of it as kind of a glamorous profession. I thought that it would be a profession that I would boast of having, and people would be amazed that I was doing it. However, I've found out it's just another job in the minds of people, and it's one that steeped in such mind numbing details that no one wants to hear anything about it.
How about any of you other IT (programmers/analysts/help desk) people out there? Do you feel that people are impressed by your job title at all? Feel free to share in the comments.
