Really, all I can say is, Wow. I left the movie theater immediately wanting to see the movie again. After seeing Iron Man, I wrote a list of my top 20 comic book movies. And while I do need to revise the list to get some omissions, I haven't yet seen Incredible Hulk or Hellboy 2 so I'll hold off on a complete re-listing. However, I think that Dark Knight may be a serious contender to that top spot. It's definitely top 5 in my book.
And for all of the talk about Heath Ledger as the Joker, the star of the movie for me was Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent. This movie was one of the best portrayals of Harvey Dent that I've ever seen. In most comics or films, there's never enough focus on how Harvey was a good man before the Two-Face incident. But this film really showed how he was as much a crime fighter as others in the Batman legacy.
Another fun fact is that we as geek movie-goers are getting so accustomed to having those little tidbit scenes at the end of movies that almost no one in the theater left at the end. And then as the credits finished, you could almost sense some disappointment in the room when there wasn't anything there. Do we need to start running a disclaimer at the start of the credits that says, "Stay tuned for a bonus scene!" so we know when to sit and when it's OK to leave?

I shouldn't have made a comic that included those tasty little delights. Now, every time I look at this comic, I get hungry for pudding.
