January 4, 2008
Well, it's the new year now. 2008 has reared its head, and I'm still churning out the Business Casual comics. And, when May rolls into town this year, it will be the 5 year mark for the comics. I sometimes can't believe that I've been doing them for this long. Hopefully, people are still enjoying them. Overall, 2007 held some good times for the comic. The site's traffic was up to new highs all around. I thought that the art improved somewhat, and I even expanded to a twice a week format. So, I guess we can count last year as a step forward for the strip. It wasn't a monumental leap, but I'm happy with the progression.

I'm not sure what this new year will hold for the comic. I want to do more with the strip, but I'm just not sure how much more I can actually do. I've thought about doing 3 comics a week, but 2 is starting to be a bit of a strain already. If I'm properly motivated, I could do 3-4 a week. I know that from my random bouts of productivity in the past. But doing that many updates a week takes nearly all of my free time during the night. If anyone can help me speed up the comic creation process, let me know. If I could cut my 2-4 hour comic production time to 1-2 hours, I would be a very happy camper.

I also want to put a book together now that I'm closing in on 200 comics, but it's going to be so much work reworking all of those first strips that I probably will never actually get around to it. And it's not like there's a demand for the book. I would just like to have one for myself and to show other people when I talk about my comic.

So what does all this mean for the comic? Like usual, I don't know. I'm still doing 2 comics a week for the foreseeable future so I'm not scaling anything back. It's just that some of the things I had hoped to do may not actually happen.

The more likely thing that I'm planning on doing for the strip this year is more promotion. I'm seriously entertaining the idea of attending a comic convention as a creator. Since I have nothing to actually sale (see book is hard to do rant above), I might share a table with some other creators.

Anyway, until next year. I have no Business Casual New Years resolutions for you. I wouldn't keep them anyway.
