I made it back from
Fallcon with a total bill of about $125. I could have easily spent much more, but I wanted to restrict myself to around the $100 amount.
$75 for a captain america bowen mini bust.
$20 admission
$5 for a cap/superman art print
$5 superman toy for the kids
$20 for some older cap comics
The show wasn't as big as I thought it would be, but it was still a good size. And, there didn't seem to be as much going on as I would have hoped, but we
were there pretty early on the first day, and I was only there for a couple of hours. I was also disappointed about there not being any people dressed up other than the few Justice League people who were probably paid to be there and the star wars costume club (only saw about 10 of these guys). I spotted no Darth Vaders. But, he probably always shows up fashionably late anyway. That how the Sith Lords roll.
I took my wife and kids with me on this adventure so I wasn't really looking at spending too much time at the show. We stayed for about 2 hours. Some of the highlights included:
1 - There were tons of old comics at the show. I just like to see them even if I know that I could never afford them. Especially the stuff from the 30's and 40's.
2 - Seeing a guy plop down about $1500 at one booth for around 5 comics. The big ticket item he purchased was Avengers 1 at $600 and Avengers 4 for I don't know how much.
3 - There were a lot of webcomic/independent comic people around. I saw a few that I recognized from either forums or just reading their stuff. I should have introduced myself and promoted my webcomic, but I suck at self-promotion/"whoring myself out".
4 - The random snippets from my wife about the female comic drawings at one booth. I expected many more of these, but she showed restraint.
So, would I go again? Definitely. Will I be able or willing to drag the rest of my family to one? Probably not unless I had my own Business Casual booth there. I don't think my wife could handle a yearly comic book convention.
